Egg Carton Seed Starting
Updated: Mar 25, 2020
Early spring is an ideal time to start exploring plants, gardening and the life-cycle. Starting seed early will provide the opportunity for care and observation of the plant as it grows.
1. Start by reading a book about plants
2. Ask children what they know and wonder about plants, perhaps recording their answers and
questions down on a whiteboard or piece of paper
3. Set up soil, egg carton and seeds and support child in planting the seeds in each carton section
4. Encourage experimentation. What happens if a lot of seeds is in one section? What if there is
only one? Try it out and see what happens!
